In this 2-hour workshop we will explore what is happening in the body during our yin yoga practice. The yin tissues in the body are the connective tissues: ligaments, tendons, bones and fascia, all of which are drier, harder, and stiffer than our yang muscles which are much softer and more fluid-filled.
In a yin sequence for the pelvis, hip area and legs, we will learn about the anatomy of these areas, adopting a functional approach to each pose. Rather than focusing on how each pose looks we will instead explore how the pose can be adapted for each student’s particular skeleton so that every body can benefit.
This workshop is suitable for everyone. It is not necessary to have any yoga or mindfulness experience. I’ll bring uplifting readings and soothing playlists and the studio has plenty of props. Come along with an open heart, an open mind, and a willingness to tap into the magic that the yin yoga practice has to offer us all.
